Description

  • Own an integration end to end, including the design, code, and production system after launch.
  • Define the architecture for auth and identity flows, multi-tenancy, data movement, performance, and production behavior.
  • Run what you build by owning the infrastructure, CI, deployment, and observability behind it, including on-call coverage.
  • Build on external platforms and manage risks across trust boundaries and partner constraints.
  • Partner closely with internal teams that provide dependent services, align on interfaces, and keep work moving without unnecessary blocking.
  • Write design docs and other written proposals that help shape the team’s technical direction.
  • Set technical defaults that a growing team will inherit and contribute to long-term engineering decisions.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software development experience, with significant work on data-heavy or integration-oriented systems.
  • Strong backend and systems judgment, including comfort with deployment topology, multi-tenancy, and data movement.
  • Experience with modern auth protocols, service principals, and identity federation across trust boundaries.
  • Experience building on someone else’s platform, including working through incomplete documentation and breaking changes.
  • Comfort working in ambiguity, shipping before the spec is complete, and making durable tradeoffs under uncertainty.
  • Strong collaboration skills with other engineers and cross-functional teams.
  • Primarily a backend engineer with enough JavaScript/TypeScript to contribute when needed.
  • Ability to use AI tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot effectively and transparently.
  • Strong written communication skills for design docs, PRs, and RFCs.
  • Preferred: familiarity with a major cloud data or analytics platform ecosystem.
  • Preferred: deep experience in auth and identity federation, or shipping through a partner marketplace or certification process.
  • Preferred: experience designing multi-tenant SaaS platforms and their isolation/deployment topology.
  • Preferred: working knowledge of ClickHouse or another columnar/OLAP engine.
