Description

  • Own mid-funnel and bottom-funnel lifecycle strategy, including trial-to-paid conversion, renewal, churn prevention, and win-back.
  • Build automated, behaviorally driven lifecycle journeys and ad hoc campaigns across email, website, podcast, and social.
  • Identify opportunities to integrate AI into lifecycle workflows.
  • Help shape the structure, packaging, and value proposition of City Cast DC’s subscription tiers.
  • Partner with editorial and audience teams to promote subscriber benefits such as paywalled content, member events, and swag.
  • Maintain clear project plans and coordinate execution across the larger team.
  • Identify audience segments to track and target.
  • Own day-to-day CRM and ESP execution, including segmentation, sends, automation builds, and list health.
  • Write or closely direct copy for lifecycle touchpoints, including emails, landing pages, in-podcast CTAs, and renewal reminders.
  • Track subscription metrics and translate performance data into clear recommendations for stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 2–5 years of experience in lifecycle marketing, CRM, retention, or growth, ideally at a media, subscription, or DTC company.
  • Hands-on experience building automated email journeys and lifecycle campaigns in an ESP such as Sailthru, Beehiv, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with membership tools such as SupportingCast, Memberful, Piano, or Monetization OS.
  • Strong understanding of subscription funnel economics and the drivers of conversion and retention.
  • A strong, clear writer who can match brand voice and write copy that converts.
  • Comfort turning data into action and making recommendations from performance metrics.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-moving environment.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for local journalism and the communities it serves.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in podcast, audio, or newsletter media is a bonus.
  • Experience developing or packaging editorial products for paid audiences is a bonus.
  • Experience using AI tools for copy testing, segmentation, or personalization workflows is a bonus.
