Description

  • Translate architecture direction into scalable, maintainable software designs.
  • Guide the engineering team to deliver high-quality, observable, and testable code aligned with product and architecture goals.
  • Create and maintain C4 diagrams, technical roadmaps, and Architecture Decision Records (ADRs).
  • Drive technical decision-making through whiteboard sessions and proofs of concept.
  • Partner with Product Owners to break down epics into technical user stories and support estimation and readiness.
  • Mentor mid- and senior-level engineers in architecture principles, design patterns, and code quality.
  • Define coding standards, review pull requests, and work with QA on automated smoke, performance, and security tests.
  • Own and optimize CI/CD pipelines and support modernization efforts such as monolith-to-microservices migration.
  • Define dashboards and SLIs, and implement structured logging, metrics, tracing, and monitoring.
  • Drive operational excellence through resilience validation and technical debt remediation.

Requirements

  • Strong experience with Java 21 and modern JVM-based backend development.
  • Experience with Spring Boot 3.x, including Spring Web, Spring Security, Spring Data JPA / Hibernate, and Spring Cache (Redis).
  • Experience designing and operating RESTful APIs and event-driven architectures.
  • Strong experience with Apache Kafka, including producers, consumers, consumer groups, retry strategies, and DLQ patterns.
  • Strong experience with PostgreSQL, including schema design, query optimization, and JPA/Hibernate mappings.
  • Experience with Redis for caching and ephemeral data.
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes, including Deployments, Services, Ingress, ConfigMaps, Secrets, probes, and rollout/rollback strategies.
  • Experience in cloud-native environments on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including GKE.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and GitOps workflows, including Tekton and ArgoCD.
  • Experience with observability practices, including structured logging, metrics, and monitoring.
  • Experience with automated testing using JUnit 5, Mockito, and Testcontainers.
  • Familiarity with gRPC, WebSockets, OAuth2 / OIDC, JWT validation, OPA, identity broker integrations, Google Cloud Logging / Monitoring / GCS, Helm or Kustomize, MapStruct, Lombok, JVM performance tuning, and cloud networking fundamentals.
  • Nice to have: Terraform, mTLS, Pub/Sub messaging patterns, gRPC streaming, advanced Kafka patterns, Kubernetes networking concepts, sidecar security patterns, contract testing, and performance testing tools such as JMeter or Gatling.
