Description

  • Lead the design, development, and modernization of enterprise software systems for federal missions.
  • Drive engineering work across the full software development lifecycle, from architecture through deployment.
  • Build scalable, secure, and maintainable backend applications.
  • Architect and develop REST and GraphQL APIs.
  • Lead system design discussions, architecture reviews, and technical decision-making.
  • Collaborate with product, architecture, DevSecOps, and infrastructure teams on integrated solutions.
  • Troubleshoot complex application, integration, and performance issues.
  • Contribute to cloud modernization, application refactoring, and platform engineering improvements.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and establish engineering standards and best practices.
  • Translate business and mission requirements into technical implementation strategies while supporting code quality, testing automation, and CI/CD integration.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain Public Trust clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 9+ years of professional software engineering experience, including enterprise application development.
  • Experience providing technical leadership, mentoring, code reviews, and architecture ownership.
  • Hands-on experience with Ruby, Ruby on Rails, React, Java, Spring Boot, and REST APIs.
  • Experience designing distributed systems, microservices, integrations, and scalable enterprise applications.
  • Strong knowledge of software architecture, system design, design patterns, and engineering best practices.
  • Experience building cloud-native applications in AWS and/or Azure.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, source control, and DevSecOps workflows.
  • Knowledge of secure software development, API and application security; Docker/Kubernetes, event-driven architecture, serverless platforms, and federal agency experience are preferred.
