Description

  • Design, build, maintain, and debug APIs, backend services, and systems across the production stack.
  • Develop, deploy, and operate highly available enterprise web application platforms.
  • Own the end-to-end real-time data pipeline, from carrier-event ingestion and normalization to ML-powered risk and ETA recommendations.
  • Design and improve scalable system architecture and technology infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with Business, Product, Data Science, and Design teams to solve customer problems.
  • Build customer-facing features, internal tools, and alerting and monitoring capabilities.
  • Investigate production issues to identify and resolve root causes.
  • Evaluate architectural trade-offs and make defensible technical decisions.
  • Instrument systems, identify reproducible bottlenecks, and implement solutions that support 10× growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of experience designing, developing, and releasing production technical solutions.
  • Experience designing scalable systems and working with complex architectures, moving parts, and multiple data sources.
  • Ability to make and defend system design decisions based on constraints and trade-offs.
  • Proficiency in backend development; Python, Flask, AWS, and RESTful API design are ideal.
  • Experience using AI coding tools such as Copilot, Cursor, or Claude responsibly, including reviewing and explaining AI-assisted code.
  • Experience working in diverse, cross-cultural Agile teams and contributing to architectural discussions.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to discuss nuanced technical decisions remotely.
  • Experience as an early startup engineering hire scaling a product or owning system design in a FAANG-tier engineering organization.
  • Experience with Docker, Git, Elasticsearch, Spark, and CI/CD is preferred.
