Description

  • Own team coordination, delivery timelines, workload allocation, and project follow-through.
  • Break down ambiguous goals, sequence work with Product, identify slippage early, and ensure commitments are met.
  • Provide technical feedback through code reviews, design discussions, and 1:1s while raising team standards.
  • Define engineering standards for observability, testing, security, scalable architecture, data pipelines, and timeboxed AI development.
  • Own or guide architecture decisions involving model selection, integrations, quality, cost, and latency.
  • Design, build, test, monitor, and ship AI-powered features across the stack.
  • Work hands-on with LLMs, embeddings, and related AI tooling to solve product problems.
  • Partner with Product and company leadership on requirements, priorities, technical planning, resourcing, and sequencing.
  • Identify technical risks involving AI reliability, cost, security, and edge-case behavior.
  • Develop team capabilities, including effective use of AI tooling without compromising quality.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of software engineering experience.
  • 2–3 years of people leadership or equivalent experience as a technical lead, engineering manager, or player-coach.
  • Experience shipping AI features to production and owning their lifecycle from problem framing through post-launch iteration.
  • Strong full-stack fundamentals across frontend, backend, and infrastructure.
  • Practical experience with LLM APIs, prompt engineering, RAG, or similar techniques in live systems.
  • Experience with observability, automated testing, and evaluation of AI behavior.
  • Strong SQL, schema design, scalable architecture, and data pipeline experience.
  • Experience defining success metrics, running experiments, and conducting offline and online evaluations.
  • Fluency with Docker and CI/CD, including versioning prompts, models, and datasets.
  • Experience with multiple LLM providers, vector databases, and LangChain or similar tools; fine-tuning experience is beneficial.
  • Security and compliance experience or strong interest in these areas.
  • Ability to work autonomously, own outcomes, manage delivery, and timebox AI exploration.
