Description

  • Conduct on-site facility condition assessments as part of a multidisciplinary team on existing buildings and civil assets.
  • Evaluate mechanical systems including HVAC equipment, ductwork, piping, cooling towers, chillers, and boilers.
  • Observe, identify, and document mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection systems and their deficiencies.
  • Determine system condition and remaining useful life, then recommend corrective actions.
  • Prepare rough budgetary cost estimates for recommended repairs and improvements.
  • Interview building operations and maintenance staff to gather building history and maintenance information.
  • Provide written technical descriptions of observed systems and deficiencies.
  • Prepare project progress documentation for project manager review.
  • Review peers’ work and participate in post-project reviews.
  • Lead and support junior Mechanical Assessors and help ensure quality for the mechanical discipline.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 years of related experience, with direct experience in mechanical and plumbing facility condition assessments strongly preferred.
  • Experience assessing healthcare and educational institutions is strongly preferred.
  • Experience evaluating HVAC, plumbing, and other building equipment.
  • Experience with building renovation and historical structures is preferred.
  • Experience working on construction sites as a Construction Administrator or Field Mechanical Technician is a plus.
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree or certification in Construction Management or Mechanical Engineering is a plus, but not required.
  • Prior cost estimating experience is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with Adobe Suite, Bluebeam, tablets, and mobile device tools is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel up to 40% for out-of-town assignments; typical schedule is one week in the field followed by two weeks in office.
  • Physical ability to walk large areas daily, climb fixed and extension ladders, and walk on roof surfaces up to a 3/12 slope.
  • Must be willing to complete mandatory training, including compliance training, within required timeframes and adhere to internal policies and Code of Conduct.
