Description

  • Develop and maintain clear, differentiated messaging and positioning for CALSTART’s brand, programs, and solutions.
  • Create compelling value propositions and audience personas for multiple segments (fleets, OEMs/technology providers, policymakers, funders, researchers, and media).
  • Translate complex technical and policy concepts into concise, executive-ready communications and thought leadership materials.
  • Lead corporate product and solutions marketing efforts, including storytelling, competitive analysis, go-to-market plans, and potential brand relaunch initiatives.
  • Direct and coordinate integrated marketing programs across content strategy, demand generation, digital, events, PR, and brand management.
  • Collaborate with web, content, initiatives, and policy teams to develop messaging architecture and showcase brand value on digital channels.
  • Oversee external communications, press materials, executive briefs, speaking roles, and partner with PR to secure media coverage and thought leadership opportunities.
  • Select, manage, and brief marketing agencies and consultants; build internal processes for approvals, tracking, and delivering quality work on scope and budget.
  • Define and track brand marketing metrics and dashboards, tying marketing results to organizational outcomes and ensuring compliance with branding, data privacy, and accessibility standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or master’s in marketing, communications, or related field preferred.
  • 12–15+ years in marketing leadership roles with strong emphasis on messaging, product/solutions marketing, and storytelling.
  • Working knowledge of the electric vehicle (EV) space required; familiarity with the fleet industry preferred.
  • Proven experience leading and managing external agencies and internal cross-functional teams, and operating effectively with limited staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage brand messaging, value propositions, and multiple audience personas.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication with ability to translate complex technical and policy concepts for executive and broad audiences.
  • Strong project management skills and a process-oriented approach to program delivery.
  • Experience with B2B, B2B2C, or mission-driven organizations is a plus.
  • Experience defining marketing/brand metrics and tying marketing performance to organizational and policy impact; familiarity with branding, data privacy, and accessibility standards is preferred.

  • Salary range: $117,260 - $140,712 per year.
