Description

  • Design, develop, and maintain calendar platform services that product teams depend on.
  • Build and scale a unified calendar data API and the underlying data infrastructure.
  • Develop synchronization services that preserve data integrity across internal systems and external providers such as Google and Microsoft.
  • Create and improve search infrastructure to surface relevant calendar data using ElasticSearch.
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and engineering standards for calendar platform services.
  • Own significant projects from concept through production delivery.
  • Partner with product engineering, Data Platform, and Infrastructure teams to translate needs into robust solutions.
  • Monitor system reliability and performance through testing, observability, and incident response.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for business-critical services and drive operational improvements.
  • Share distributed systems expertise and help establish reusable patterns, tools, and frameworks for other engineers.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of software engineering experience at a SaaS or technology company with a strong backend and distributed systems focus.
  • Deep experience with service-oriented architecture, microservice patterns, and building resilient, scalable systems.
  • Proven experience building and operating high-traffic, high-availability production platforms.
  • Strong proficiency building internal tools, frameworks, and SDKs used by other engineers.
  • Experience with API design and data synchronization across multiple external providers.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to diagnose complex system issues.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Authorization to work lawfully in the United States, as Calendly does not offer immigration sponsorship at this time.
  • Experience with Golang, Ruby/Rails, or NodeJS/TypeScript is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, Redis, Pub/Sub, or ElasticSearch is preferred.
  • Background in platform engineering or experience decomposing monolithic applications into microservices is preferred.
  • Availability to participate in an on-call rotation is expected.

Benefits

  • Annual base salary ranges from $187,000 to $271,920 USD depending on location and other factors.
  • Eligible for a Top Performer Bonus program or Sales incentive.
  • Eligible for equity awards as part of total compensation.
  • Competitive benefits package for full-time employees working 30 hours per week or more.
  • Remote work location-based pay ranges are used, with tiering by geographic area.
