Description

  • Develop and maintain backend services for Airalo’s global eSIM platform.
  • Work on backend architecture, distributed systems, and cloud infrastructure challenges.
  • Build reliable features for a high-scale product serving more than 20 million users.
  • Collaborate within a remote engineering team to deliver technical progress and seek support effectively.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation to help maintain 24/7 service reliability.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and support system resilience across global operations.
  • Write unit and feature tests to improve code reliability.
  • Contribute to scalable solutions spanning B2C and B2B products.
  • Apply clean code practices, modular design, and strong engineering fundamentals to backend work.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of professional backend development experience.
  • Strong command of PHP.
  • Proven experience building applications in Laravel or a strong background in Symfony with a desire to transition.
  • Solid understanding of OOP, interfaces, and code modularity.
  • Solid knowledge of SQL, including database indexing, migrations, and basic query optimization.
  • Familiarity with Docker and basic CI/CD pipeline troubleshooting.
  • Experience writing unit and feature tests.
  • Fluent English with the ability to communicate technical progress effectively in a remote team.
  • Must reside in and be fully eligible to work in Romania, Spain, or the UK.
  • Bonus: familiarity with Redis/Memcached and AWS, SaaS or traveltech solutions, eSIM or GSMA technologies, and distributed systems/horizontal scaling.
