Description

  • Collaborate with Android and iOS engineers to clarify ambiguous requirements through iterative problem-solving.
  • Partner with product managers, designers, and clinical professionals to develop medical imaging experiences.
  • Write high-quality, efficient, well-tested Kotlin code for native Android applications.
  • Follow and evolve team architecture patterns within a complex, multi-module Android codebase.
  • Integrate cross-cutting features with hardware, cloud, machine learning, device software, and imaging science teams.
  • Mentor engineers at all levels.
  • Develop features involving deep learning applications, telemedicine, and the Butterfly iQ device.
  • Use Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Coroutines/Flow, and GraphQL to deliver product capabilities.
  • Break product requirements into actionable engineering tickets and implementation plans.
  • Participate in user research sessions to understand real-world product use.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of native Android application development experience.
  • Strong Kotlin and coroutines/reactive-framework design-pattern knowledge.
  • Strong experience with Jetpack Compose and View-based UI development.
  • Strong JUnit unit-testing skills and knowledge of Espresso UI automation.
  • Demonstrated professional achievement and problem-solving ability.
  • Experience with complex application structures and internal libraries using JNI/NDK bridges to native C++ code (preferred).
  • Experience with Gradle multi-module builds and modularized Android architecture (preferred).
  • Knowledge of graphics rendering and image processing, such as OpenGL ES or Vulkan (preferred).
  • Python and C++ experience to collaborate with device software and imaging teams (preferred).
