Description

  • Lead and develop a regional network of self-employed Independent Consultants through coaching, training, and field support.
  • Work regularly in the field with consultants on sales calls, model consultative selling, and help close complex or high-value deals.
  • Build and scale the regional consultant network by leveraging an established personal network of independent sales agents.
  • Drive seller acquisition across the SMB market and promote Square’s full ecosystem of payments, POS, online, and business management tools.
  • Develop and execute a regional sales plan with clear goals, performance tracking, and tactical adjustments based on market feedback.
  • Analyze pipeline data, conversion metrics, and activity reports to identify coaching opportunities and improve consultant performance.
  • Provide forecasts and performance updates to leadership, including wins, challenges, and field insights.
  • Capture market intelligence from consultants and prospects to inform regional strategy and opportunity planning.
  • Ensure alignment between consultants and Square’s standards, values, and go-to-market approach while respecting their independence.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in a similar field sales leadership role.
  • Proven experience managing self-employed or independent sales agents.
  • Experience in the Australian market is strongly preferred.
  • Deep industry expertise in payments and POS solutions.
  • Ability to speak credibly to SME pain points and demonstrate product value across different business types.
  • An established network of independent sales agents or consultants you have worked with previously.
  • Strong coaching and leadership skills in environments where influence is based on expertise and support rather than direct authority.
  • Consultative sales experience with a track record of closing complex deals.
  • Analytical ability to interpret performance data, identify trends, and turn insights into action.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build trust and alignment with independent contractors.
  • A results-oriented mindset with consistent success meeting or exceeding sales targets.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to build and scale with autonomy and accountability.
  • Experience selling across multiple SMB verticals, such as retail, hospitality, and professional services, is nice to have.
  • Knowledge of the Australian SME landscape and regional market nuances is nice to have.
  • Experience with commission-based or performance-driven sales models is nice to have.
  • Familiarity with fintech, SaaS, or technology solutions for small businesses is nice to have.
