Description

  • Lead and grow the Mission Management engineering team responsible for autonomous satellite operations planning.
  • Set technical direction and provide architectural guidance for constellation activity orchestration.
  • Partner with mission operations, spacecraft and flight software, systems engineering, product, and program leadership to align requirements and priorities.
  • Drive roadmaps, resource allocation, prioritization, and execution across multiple projects.
  • Establish and improve design reviews, code reviews, testing, safety, and operational-readiness processes.
  • Support live systems through on-call operations, incident response, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Hire, onboard, coach, and evaluate engineers while supporting career development and accountability.
  • Support launch and early operations of new satellites.
  • Balance rapid iteration with long-term reliability, availability, and commercial or program commitments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, statistics, or another computational field.
  • At least 8 years of professional software engineering experience with complex distributed, autonomous, or mission-critical systems.
  • At least 2 years leading engineering teams as a people manager or technical lead with formal leadership responsibilities.
  • Strong programming background in one or more languages such as Go, Python, or C++, with experience reviewing complex designs.
  • Experience developing and deploying microservices in cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure and on-premises Kubernetes systems.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD, automated testing, version control, and operational best practices.
  • Experience coordinating priorities and delivering results across cross-functional teams in fast-paced operational environments.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Preferred: experience with Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes, Nomad, distributed systems, system safety, fault tolerance, or recovery strategies.
  • Preferred: satellite operations, aerospace, complex-system automation, geospatial data, or alignment with commercial SLAs and program milestones; Seattle-area presence is strongly preferred. U.S. citizenship or other ITAR eligibility may be required.

  • Seattle salary range of $165,000–$205,000 per year.
