Description

  • Lead and manage a team of approximately 15 engineers, establishing goals, ownership, performance expectations, and operating cadence.
  • Coach, hire, develop, promote, and retain senior, Staff, and Principal engineers.
  • Partner with Product Managers and Technical Program Managers to define requirements, design projects, and deliver roadmap outcomes.
  • Set technical direction by reviewing designs and pull requests and resolving contested technical decisions.
  • Remain hands-on by reading code, reviewing pull requests, and shipping occasionally.
  • Lead adoption of agentic coding tools with appropriate quality and safety guardrails.
  • Plan work, headcount, timelines, and delivery commitments; communicate status and escalate risks early.
  • Collaborate with engineering, Sales, Customer Success, Support, and customers across a distributed organization.
  • Expand leadership scope across the Containers organization as the product and team grow.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years managing teams building customer-facing products.
  • Experience leading teams of 10 or more senior engineers, including Staff and Principal engineers.
  • Experience shipping products and features to paying customers in a hyper-growth company.
  • Ability to translate ambiguous product goals into concrete technical plans and align engineering work with business objectives.
  • Track record of hiring, coaching, promoting, retaining, and managing performance for strong engineers.
  • Hands-on, organized, action-oriented leadership style with strong written and verbal communication.
  • Daily use of agentic coding tools and experience leading teams through AI-driven changes to engineering practices.
  • Technical fluency with containers, registries, OCI image format, Kubernetes, Go services, and GCP or AWS infrastructure.
  • Linux distribution or packaging experience preferred.
  • Experience leading distributed, remote-first teams across North America and Europe; remote location in North America or the United Kingdom preferred.

  • Base salary range of $229,000–$258,000 USD.
