Description

  • Administer and optimize SQL Server instances across on-premises and Azure environments, including capacity planning, performance tuning, index optimization, and query analysis.
  • Manage MongoDB Atlas clusters, including security policies, backups and recovery, replication, and workload optimization.
  • Design and implement high-availability and disaster recovery solutions using Azure SQL Failover Groups, Distributed Availability Groups, and cross-platform replication.
  • Lead database security initiatives, including RBAC, encryption, audit logging, and compliance controls.
  • Automate operational tasks using T-SQL scripting and PowerShell.
  • Manage monitoring and alerting systems and proactively identify performance optimization opportunities.
  • Support backup and restore operations and database migration projects.
  • Troubleshoot complex database performance issues and implement optimization strategies.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of hands-on SQL Server database administration experience.
  • 3+ years of MongoDB administration experience.
  • Experience administering and optimizing Azure SQL Database and SQL Managed Instance.
  • Strong MongoDB Atlas expertise, including cluster administration, backups, query optimization, and security configuration.
  • Ability to use the Atlas CLI to deploy and modify clusters programmatically.
  • Advanced T-SQL skills, including stored procedures, triggers, query optimization, index tuning, and performance analysis.
  • Experience with high-availability solutions such as Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, or cloud-native alternatives.
  • Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for database automation and infrastructure management.
  • Knowledge of database security concepts such as column-level encryption, row-level security, transparent data encryption, and audit frameworks.
  • Experience with backup and recovery strategies, including BACPAC and bulk export/import operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex database performance issues.
  • Travel required during the first 6 months, with approximately 5% annual travel thereafter.
  • Must have valid U.S. work authorization and no need for employer sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Preferred: Experience with Azure Databricks.
  • Preferred: Experience with monitoring tools such as Redgate, Foglight, or Azure Monitor.
  • Preferred: Experience with SSIS or similar ETL tools.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of financial services compliance requirements such as SOX, PCI, and GDPR.
  • Preferred: Certifications such as Microsoft Certified Data Administrator, Azure Database Administrator Associate (DP-300), or MongoDB Certified DBA.
