Description

  • Define the strategic vision, operating standards, and systems roadmap for merchandise planning.
  • Lead merchandise planning, inventory management, and allocation across a growing wholesale retail business.
  • Build and scale the planning organization, including roles, levels, reporting lines, and career paths.
  • Own forecasting and allocation platform adoption so it is trusted and fully used.
  • Drive inventory strategy decisions across drop-ship, owned inventory, SKU expansion, and network deployment.
  • Own inventory health metrics including in-stock rate, weeks of supply, aged inventory, and working capital efficiency.
  • Lead and coach direct reports and develop future leaders within the team.
  • Represent Planning as an equal strategic partner in MBRs, S&OP, OTB, and cross-functional forums.
  • Guide the planning perspective on warehouse network expansion and inventory deployment.
  • Respond to inventory performance issues and lead corrective action when in-stock performance slips.

Requirements

  • Executive leadership experience in merchandise planning, inventory management, and allocation within wholesale retail.
  • Experience managing across hundreds of vendors and scaling through double-digit growth, ideally in a $500M to $2B+ business.
  • Strong people management experience with a track record of building high-performance teams.
  • Experience setting strategic vision and operating standards for a planning organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to make fast, high-stakes decisions and hold them through execution.
  • Direct experience implementing a demand planning or allocation platform such as Intuendi, Blue Yonder, o9, ToolsGroup, or Impact Analytics through full adoption.
  • Experience designing and scaling planning organizations, roles, levels, and career paths.
  • Comfort operating as a strategic partner to Merchandising, Supply Chain, and Data/Finance leaders.
  • Fluency in inventory KPIs such as in-stock rate, weeks of supply, weeks on hand, aged inventory, and working capital efficiency.
  • Experience with planning/supply chain-adjacent operations, vendor onboarding, vendor performance analytics, or drop-ship EDI is a plus.
  • Comfort using AI daily in your work.
