Description

  • Build and own a book of business from day one by leveraging existing local relationships.
  • Prospect, pitch, and close new local advertisers across a range of industries.
  • Develop repeatable revenue streams through renewals and long-term partnerships.
  • Serve as the Axios brand ambassador in-market by attending events and building community presence.
  • Collaborate with editorial teams to support local market growth.
  • Manage a high-volume pipeline of deals with typical deal sizes of $5K–$15K.
  • Operate with a founder mindset by owning outcomes and testing approaches in market.
  • Rapidly activate your network into revenue-generating client relationships.
  • Maintain a consistent pipeline of new local advertisers.
  • Establish yourself as a trusted partner in your local market.

Requirements

  • 5–8+ years of experience in sales, digital media, advertising, or a related field.
  • Deep local market connections and the ability to turn relationships into revenue.
  • Proven ability to build and monetize a book of business.
  • Demonstrated success closing new business and generating revenue from a personal network.
  • Strong relationships with local advertisers, agencies, or business leaders in your market.
  • Entrepreneurial and self-starting mindset with comfort building from zero.
  • Highly networked in your local market with a strong hunter mentality.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and longer ramp periods.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Interest in Axios’ mission and willingness to actively develop AI literacy and use AI tools in daily work.

  • Competitive base salary of $60,000 per year plus uncapped commission.
  • On-target earnings up to $150,000+ with significant upside for top performers.
  • Guaranteed additional $5,000 per month for the first 4 months.
  • Non-recoverable draw and incentives for new logo acquisition and early market traction.
