Description

  • Serve as the technical lead for a single Agile scrum team and provide day-to-day direction to developers, frontend engineers, and testers.
  • Translate functional requirements and design specifications into well-formed technical work before sprint commitment.
  • Make technical and architectural decisions within the team’s scope and escalate cross-team issues to the Solutions Architect and Cloud Architect.
  • Drive code quality through peer review discipline, Definition of Done enforcement, and team engineering standards.
  • Maintain test coverage targets, SonarQube quality gate compliance, and automated CI/CD pipelines for the team’s services.
  • Partner with the Scrum Master and Business Analyst on roadmap planning, level-of-effort estimates, resource allocation, and milestone reprioritization.
  • Participate in SAFe Agile ceremonies and support Program Increment planning by validating readiness, dependencies, and estimates.
  • Coordinate change management activities through the federal change advisory process and support release approval documentation.
  • Work with security stakeholders to review controls, support POAM remediation, and lead vulnerability fixes within required timeframes.
  • Support Tier-2 and Tier-3 production incident resolution, root cause analysis, and preventive improvements.
  • Maintain technical documentation for APIs, data models, deployment operations, and runbooks.
  • Mentor developers through pairing, design review, code review, and onboarding support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or 3 additional years of experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Experience as a technical lead or senior developer on an Agile scrum team.
  • Hands-on experience developing production backend or full-stack web applications in Java and/or Python.
  • Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, including schema design and SQL tuning.
  • Working experience with Elasticsearch or OpenSearch.
  • Experience with containerized microservices in AWS, including ECS, RDS, S3, SNS, SQS, and related services.
  • Experience with GitLab or equivalent source control and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with Terraform for infrastructure as code.
  • Experience leading code review and enforcing engineering standards.
  • Experience translating functional requirements into technical work, breaking down complex stories, identifying dependencies, and estimating effort.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and participating in sprint ceremonies and backlog refinement.
  • Experience leading technical aspects of production incident response and Tier-2/Tier-3 support.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Preferred: experience supporting federal government clients.
  • Preferred: experience working in a SAFe environment with multiple synchronized Scrum teams and PI planning.
  • Preferred: experience with Spring Boot or comparable Java frameworks for REST APIs.
  • Preferred: experience with Angular frontends and end-to-end debugging across frontend, backend, and infrastructure layers.
  • Preferred: experience supporting security control reviews, ATO maintenance, and POAM remediation for federal systems.
  • Preferred: experience supporting federal change advisory processes, including ServiceNow-based workflows.
  • Preferred: experience with AWS architectural patterns such as VPC isolation, application load balancers, and private-subnet container hosting.
  • Preferred: AWS certification such as AWS Certified Developer - Associate or AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate.
  • Preferred: experience with container image scanning, SAST/DAST tooling, and security scanning integrated into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Preferred: experience mentoring junior and mid-level developers and contributing to hiring or technical interviewing.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability Determination.
  • Sponsorship is not available.
  • Occasional travel may be required, expected to be less than 10%.
