Description

  • Coordinate and manage the full set of Scrum ceremonies, including Sprint Planning, Daily Standup, Sprint Review, Retrospective, and Backlog Refinement.
  • Document ceremony outputs clearly and consistently to support transparency and reporting.
  • Identify, escalate, and drive resolution of team-level impediments.
  • Support Program Increment (PI) Planning by preparing the team backlog, facilitating team-level PI planning sessions, and documenting objectives, dependencies, and commitments.
  • Partner with the federal Product Owner and engineering team to maintain the team’s 24-month roadmap and backlog priorities.
  • Facilitate sprint planning and retrospectives to ensure stories are understood, appropriately sized, and tied to measurable improvement actions.
  • Maintain team Agile metrics and current status reporting, including weekly updates on accomplishments, planned work, risks, and issues.
  • Coordinate with the senior Scrum Master and other team-level Scrum Masters to resolve cross-team dependencies and align practices.
  • Collaborate with tech, UX, Accessibility, and QA leads to align priorities with sprint goals.
  • Maintain Jira and Confluence hygiene, including board configuration, sprint setup, workflow states, and Definition of Ready/Done.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or 3 years of additional experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Active Scrum certification such as CSM, PSM, or SAFe Scrum Master (SSM).
  • Minimum 4 years of applicable experience as a Scrum Master on delivery teams.
  • Hands-on experience working in a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) environment, including PI Planning.
  • Experience facilitating standard Scrum ceremonies and documenting outputs consistently.
  • Proficiency with Jira and Confluence, including board and sprint configuration, dashboards, workflow setup, and reporting.
  • Experience identifying, tracking, and escalating impediments to resolution.
  • Experience partnering with a Product Owner on backlog refinement, prioritization, and roadmap maintenance.
  • Experience maintaining Agile metrics such as velocity, commitment reliability, flow, and defect rates.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coaching technical teams and engaging both technical and non-technical federal stakeholders.
  • Preferred: Experience supporting federal government clients.
  • Preferred: SAFe Scrum Master (SSM) certification specifically, in addition to any base Scrum certification.
  • Preferred: Advanced CSM, CSP-SM, or PSM II certification.
  • Preferred: Experience working within an Agile Release Train with multiple synchronized Scrum teams.
  • Preferred: Experience coaching software engineering teams, including backend, frontend, QA, and UX.
  • Preferred: Experience with Kanban practices or Scrum/Kanban hybrid teams in a broader SAFe environment.
  • Preferred: Experience facilitating retrospectives beyond the default template and driving improvements to completion.
  • Preferred: Experience collaborating with federal Product Owners and federal UX/QA leads.
