Description

  • Own and deliver target architectures, technical strategies, and roadmaps for the product suite.
  • Partner with Technical Leads to support feature delivery, tech debt reduction, and architecture improvements.
  • Work with Product Directors to translate product vision into deliverables aligned to commercial and engineering goals.
  • Lead the shift to an AI-first way of working by architecting new SDLC foundations and practices.
  • Mentor and coach Technical Leads and Senior Engineers to raise architectural and engineering standards.
  • Act as a role model for technical leadership with a focus on pace, pragmatism, and outcomes.
  • Lead architectural reviews and ensure designs meet quality, reliability, security, and compliance standards.
  • Collaborate with Staff Engineers and Principal Engineers to shape broader technology strategy beyond your domain.
  • Partner with Engineering Management to grow teams, identify dependencies and risks, and report progress against strategic goals.

Requirements

  • Extensive track record of delivering outcomes and leading across large, complex product suites in a scaling, fast-moving environment.
  • Broad understanding of software architecture, system design, and scalable integration patterns.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to support engineer and technical lead growth while contributing across distributed, cross-functional teams.
  • Experience working in an ownership culture where quality, performance, observability, and security are core responsibilities.
  • Deep experience guiding architectural design, de-risking complex initiatives through MVP/0-1 thinking, and framework adoption.
  • An informed viewpoint on how AI-first engineering will change the SDLC and ways of working, ideally with worked examples.
  • Experience contributing to or leading technical communities of practice such as chapters, guilds, or architecture councils.
  • Practical knowledge of some core stack technologies or equivalent tools, including PHP, Node, React, Python, MySQL, and AWS.
  • Experience navigating between monolithic and distributed architectures with a pragmatic understanding of the value of each.
  • Remote location.
