Description

  • Set technical direction and own application networking designs from proposal through general availability.
  • Lead large-scale development of Ingress, private connectivity, DNS, and security controls for Elastic Cloud.
  • Drive multi-quarter, cross-organizational initiatives through delivery.
  • Investigate operational issues, lead complex incident reviews, and participate in the on-call rotation.
  • Improve platform performance, reliability, security, stability, operability, and cost efficiency.
  • Mentor engineers and serve as a technical advisor across the engineering organization.
  • Advise product and engineering leaders on technical trade-offs, feasibility, and roadmap direction.

Requirements

  • Staff- or Principal-level experience setting technical direction for complex distributed systems operating at production scale.
  • Deep expertise in application networking and cloud-native architecture.
  • Experience designing, operating, and evolving Ingress, private connectivity, DNS, and security controls.
  • Experience building large-scale distributed systems rather than relying primarily on off-the-shelf services.
  • Experience owning projects end to end and guiding work involving multiple engineers.
  • Experience operating high-availability SaaS platforms, responding to incidents, and improving reliability.
  • Strong focus on testing, observability, and operability.
  • Proven use of AI to accelerate development, debug systems, and optimize code while maintaining ownership of outcomes.
  • Ability to collaborate across functions, work autonomously, and influence decisions in distributed teams.
  • Preferred: Kubernetes networking experience with Cilium, external-dns, Envoy Gateway, or Crossplane; experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP networking; or contributions to CNCF/open-source networking projects.
