Description

  • Set technical direction for major application networking initiatives from proposal through general availability.
  • Lead development of large-scale ingress, private connectivity, DNS, and security-control systems for Elastic Cloud.
  • Drive multi-quarter, cross-organizational projects through delivery.
  • Investigate operational issues and lead complex incident reviews while participating in the on-call rotation.
  • Improve platform performance, reliability, operability, security, stability, and cost efficiency.
  • Mentor engineers and advise teams as a subject-matter expert and technical leader.
  • Partner with product management and senior engineering stakeholders on trade-offs, feasibility, and roadmap direction.
  • Champion architectural clarity and establish strong software development standards.

Requirements

  • Staff-, Principal-, or equivalent-level experience setting technical direction for complex distributed systems in production at scale.
  • Deep expertise in application networking and cloud-native architecture.
  • Experience designing, operating, and evolving ingress, private connectivity, DNS, and security controls.
  • Experience building large-scale distributed systems rather than primarily configuring off-the-shelf services.
  • Ability to own projects end to end and guide work involving multiple engineers.
  • Experience operating high-availability SaaS platforms, responding to incidents, and improving reliability.
  • Strong focus on testing, observability, and operability.
  • Proven use of AI to accelerate development, debug systems, and optimize code while owning outcomes.
  • Ability to collaborate across teams, work autonomously, and influence decisions without formal authority.
  • Preferred: Kubernetes networking experience with Cilium, external-dns, Envoy Gateway, or Crossplane; experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP networking; or contributions to CNCF/open-source networking projects.
