Description

  • Perform thermal analysis and own thermal design aspects across hardware development programs.
  • Execute first-order assessments and analytical models to guide preliminary design architecture.
  • Develop detailed thermal models to mature prototype designs and support hardware testing.
  • Build and run CFD models and simulations to predict temperatures, heat transfer, and fluid behavior.
  • Generate, maintain, and correlate integrated FEMs for imaging platforms.
  • Perform test-model correlation testing to validate analytical predictions.
  • Work with environmental test engineers on test design, instrumentation selection, execution, and data processing.
  • Prepare technical reports and present findings to internal teams, management, and external customers.
  • Stay current with thermal analysis methods, materials technology, and industry standards.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or holding an MS or higher degree in engineering or applied physics with a focus on heat transfer and fluid dynamics.
  • 7+ years of experience in a thermal analysis or thermo-physics analysis role.
  • Experience with thermal FEA tools such as STAR-CCM+, ANSYS, Icepak, or Flotherm.
  • Familiarity with MATLAB or Python, or equivalent, for analytical modeling, data acquisition, and post-processing.
  • Experience with test-model correlation and test-based characterization of critical modeling input parameters.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Highly motivated, self-starting, results-oriented, and able to work in a dynamic environment.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
  • Preferred: Experience building structural, thermal, and optical performance (STOP) models for high-performance imaging systems.
  • Preferred: General knowledge of climatic and/or dynamic testing, instrumentation, and data acquisition fundamentals.
  • Preferred: Experience operating chambers, DAQs, and other major test apparatus.
  • Preferred: CAD skills and the ability to produce high-quality engineering drawings that meet industry standards.
  • Preferred: Experience on immersive interdisciplinary technical projects in collegiate or professional settings.
  • Preferred: Basic knowledge of MIL-STD-810 or equivalent.
