Description

  • Partner with design teams to support design development, provide design-for-manufacturability feedback, and define part requirements for composite assemblies.
  • Use knowledge of casting, welding, inspection, and measurement to support internal design ideation, technical risk management, prototyping, and scaling to production.
  • Drive supplier quality development through design reviews, supplier process development, testing, and qualification of precision mechanical components and sub-assemblies.
  • Collaborate with development engineering, product quality, sourcing, category management, and program management to ensure predictable supply and manage exceptions, containments, and deviations.
  • Analyze critical drawing characteristics and supplier specifications, develop measurement systems, and lead supplier qualification activities such as PPAP, FAIR, audits, and inspection development.
  • Partner with strategic sourcing and sourcing engineering to improve supplier performance across cost, quality, delivery, and fulfillment goals.
  • Own supplier risk reduction efforts to improve quality and reliability across the product lifecycle through audits, readiness reviews, training, and documentation.
  • Support RCCA and MRB activities and own containments associated with purchased goods.
  • Drive supplier corrective action and response processes and share lessons learned across the product team.
  • Audit supplier quality management systems and lead onsite supplier audits and reviews to ensure compliance with customer flow-down requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Metallurgy, or a similar technical field.
  • Experience producing castings and mechanical assemblies for maritime, aerospace, or space applications using sand, investment, or die casting.
  • Experience scaling supplier capabilities and quality from prototype and proof-of-concept parts through low-rate and high-rate production.
  • Experience performing source inspection at mechanical manufacturing, aerospace, or defense suppliers is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100/ISO 9001-based quality management system requirements; AS9100 Lead Auditor or Internal Auditor certification is a plus.
  • Experience with First Article Inspection to AS9102 and with supplier control plans and inspection processes.
  • Experience driving supplier performance and evaluation, including work with SOWs, quality clauses, intellectual property, and regulations such as ITAR.
  • Working knowledge of FMEA, APQP, PPAP, MSA, quality improvement techniques, and GD&T.
  • Strong ownership mindset with demonstrated ability to drive projects from start to completion.
  • Analytical experience with data mining, metrics generation, issue management systems, and statistical tools such as MatLab, JMP, or MiniTab.
  • Must be able to obtain and hold a U.S. TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Must be able to travel up to 50% to suppliers, sourcing partners, and manufacturing locations.
  • Master’s degree in a technical field is preferred.
  • Experience creating material and process specifications for castings, special processes, mechanical parts, and sub-assemblies is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of non-destructive inspection techniques such as penetrant, x-ray, and pressure proof testing is preferred.
  • Experience qualifying metal joining methods such as welding and brazing for critical structures and aerospace assemblies is preferred.
  • Experience managing special processes including heat treatment, polishing, anodize, coating, and paint is preferred.
  • Experience in casting process qualification and automated inspection operations is preferred.
  • PFMEA experience and experience developing source inspection plans and qualifying inspection process capabilities is preferred.
  • Experience with government contracts and MIL standard requirements is preferred.
  • Experience with Teamcenter, NX, Oracle/Netsuite, Jira, and Foundry is preferred.
