Description

  • Develop test strategies and new methodologies to support rapid scaling and rare but critical edge cases.
  • Design and implement metrics, test plans, and simulated scenarios for autonomous vehicle testing in off-nominal situations.
  • Analyze simulation test results and write reusable, high-quality software to support automation at scale.
  • Lead cross-functional efforts to unblock scalable multi-platform testing with simulator and onboard software partner teams.
  • Review system requirements and feature validation plans using autonomous vehicle engineering and test strategy expertise.
  • Support testing for fault conditions and scenarios requiring remote assistance across multiple vehicle platforms.
  • Contribute to rapid commercialization through scalable verification and validation approaches.

Requirements

  • An advanced degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or another relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience involving perception or robotic systems.
  • Experience with software development for robotics, or with software verification and validation for robotic, safety-critical, or high-reliability systems.
  • Strong grasp of machine learning fundamentals and applied statistical concepts.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills and experience working on projects across multiple disciplines.
  • Experience in data analysis, modeling, or software engineering using Python and SQL.
  • Knowledge of C++ preferred.
  • 8+ years of engineering experience preferred, with graduate school and industry experience both counting.
  • Experience in autonomous vehicles, robotics, assisted driving technology, or other safety-critical or high-reliability systems preferred.
  • Experience leading cross-team initiatives and coordinating with external vendors or partners preferred.

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $196,000 to $248,000 USD.
  • Eligibility for Waymo’s discretionary annual bonus program.
  • Eligibility for Waymo’s equity incentive plan.
