Description

  • Specify, design, develop, and install devices used to collect data on solid rocket motor burn performance.
  • Design custom electronic solutions, including PCBs, firmware, and FPGA code, for manufacturing and testing solid rocket motors.
  • Configure data collection systems and develop software applications used to collect test data.
  • Analyze current equipment and identify inefficiencies, then design instrumentation improvements to address them.
  • Collaborate with other engineers to develop accurate, efficient equipment and instrumentation that meet safety, usability, and client expectations.
  • Design and test prototypes of equipment and perform PCBA and electrical system component testing and rework.
  • Create schematics and simulated models, and modify designs to meet specifications and budget requirements.
  • Oversee the installation and testing of new measuring devices and control systems.
  • Act as project engineer for design, prototype fabrication, and manufacturing development.
  • Draft and present technical documents, reports, and testing results, and provide training on devices to employees and customers.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience with the design, development, and installation of sensors used to collect system performance data.
  • Experience with NI LabVIEW, NI DAQmx, or other COTS data acquisition systems.
  • Strong understanding of signal conditioning for data acquisition, including analog circuit design.
  • Strong knowledge of analog-to-digital conversion and digital circuit design.
  • Experience developing computer-controlled data acquisition applications.
  • Ability to select sensors and determine sensor placement to capture solid rocket motor performance metrics.
  • Strong applied math and physics background.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and computer-aided design software.
  • Ability to write and understand Python.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
  • Advanced degree in engineering preferred.
  • Experience with circuit simulation tools such as SPICE preferred.
  • Experience with EDA tools such as Altium or OrCAD preferred.
  • Familiarity with real-time computer architectures and operating systems preferred.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance preferred.
