Description

  • Build, manage, and develop a team of commodity managers and sourcing program managers as the function scales.
  • Own the departmental budget, headcount plan, sourcing policies, and process standards.
  • Serve as the supply chain escalation point to executive leadership and resolve competing priorities across Engineering, Finance, Legal, and Operations.
  • Partner with Engineering and Product Management on the product roadmap process and embed supply chain input into early design decisions.
  • Own DFM and DFX to improve manufacturability, sourcing optionality, and cost competitiveness in new product introductions.
  • Set and execute commodity strategy, including make/buy decisions, preferred supplier lists, risk tiering, and best-total-cost objectives.
  • Develop and implement inbound logistics and procurement strategy for the electrical commodity portfolio and support MRP/ERP development.
  • Own the sourcing strategy for the AC-to-DC product transition, including BOM lead-time analysis, risk buys, and production readiness.
  • Source, qualify, and onboard suppliers and contract manufacturers for power conversion equipment, electrical assemblies, and rapid-turn R&D builds.
  • Own should-cost modeling, cost-down initiatives, supplier risk assessments, SPOF mitigation, contract negotiations, and business continuity planning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Supply Chain, or an equivalent technical discipline.
  • 20+ years of experience across electrical engineering, operations, and supply chain.
  • 3–5 years of experience managing sourcing teams.
  • Experience contributing to organizational sourcing policy and process standards.
  • Deep technical knowledge of power electronics, PCBAs, connectors, cable assemblies, and battery/energy storage systems.
  • Hands-on circuit design or PCBA layout experience is a strong plus.
  • Experience onboarding contract manufacturers for electromechanical assemblies, with US/Mexico experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with MRP/ERP systems and inbound logistics.
  • Proven best-total-cost commodity strategy experience, including multi-source qualification, cost-down programs, working capital improvement, and supplier risk management.
  • Executive presence with the ability to reconcile stakeholder views, negotiate at senior management level, and own a departmental budget.
  • Familiarity with FEOC, IRA/ITC, USMCA, and UL/IEC compliance-driven sourcing environments.
  • Willingness to travel up to 40% domestically in the US and Mexico, with occasional international travel.
  • Experience in energy storage, battery, or distributed power generation is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of IRA battery sourcing requirements and FEOC country-of-origin tracing is preferred.
  • Familiarity with UL 9540, UL 1973, UL 508a, or IEC 62619 is preferred.
  • Prior experience in a hardware startup or high-growth manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Six Sigma or LEAN certification is preferred.

  • Base salary of $188,232 to $221,450 per year.
