Description

  • Plan and execute system-level test and evaluation activities for hardware and software, including resource planning, ground testing, flight testing, initial issue investigation, and process improvement.
  • Work with program management and engineering teams to develop requirements and review test results, collected data, and observations.
  • Serve as lead test engineer for small UAS or weapon systems, including development, certification, and subsystem integration testing to the AUR configuration.
  • Perform safety and risk analysis for testing events.
  • Collect test data and perform initial analysis for the system under test.
  • Conduct ground and flight testing at private and government-owned test ranges.
  • Work in accordance with established operating procedures and safe work practices.
  • Support and/or lead a cross-functional team on planning, coordination, execution, and reporting across the test program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related technical discipline from an accredited institution, or equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
  • 3+ years of experience as a lead test conductor or test director for developmental weapon or missile systems on manned and/or unmanned aircraft.
  • Experience with requirements development, test planning and execution, and test reporting.
  • Ability to quickly understand new concepts, organize work phases, coordinate tasks, and solve complex problems with appropriate guidance when needed.
  • Strong understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory, with broad application across technical specialties.
  • Working knowledge of the National Airspace System and UAS operating rules and regulations.
  • Strong command-line interface (CLI) skills for system navigation and management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, including on complex engineering tasks.
  • Ability to travel as required and work extended hours as needed.
  • Bias for action and ability to identify and resolve problems proactively.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance.
  • Experience working with the Department of Defense (preferred).
  • Prior programming or scripting experience with languages such as Go, Java, C++, Python, or JavaScript (preferred).
  • Experience with Linux-based systems and command line, including proficiency in Linux environments (preferred).
  • Hands-on experience with simulation environments and tools used for testing autonomous systems (preferred).
  • Working knowledge of Ardupilot Small UAS autopilot and mission planning software (preferred).
  • Experience working with manned aircraft and familiarity with aviation terminology (preferred).
