Description

  • Manage and grow a team of 10–15 engineers while fostering a high-performance, mission-focused culture.
  • Define team objectives, prioritize work streams, and align execution with Connected Warfare initiatives.
  • Remove blockers, allocate resources, and drive timely delivery of complex software projects.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the team and senior leadership, including status reporting and expectation management.
  • Oversee architecture, design, and implementation of high-performance, low-latency edge applications.
  • Guide technical decisions around memory safety, concurrency, inter-process communication, and hardware-software interfaces.
  • Champion software quality through code reviews, testing, CI/CD practices, and maintainable design.
  • Collaborate with product, mission systems, and technical leaders to support system integration and resolve technical challenges.
  • Coach engineers, provide feedback, and support structured career development and people growth.
  • Travel occasionally to observe systems in operational environments and validate field requirements.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as a software engineering manager leading high-performing teams.
  • 8+ years of hands-on software development experience in distributed edge systems, networked applications, or Embedded Linux environments.
  • Strong expertise in C++ or Rust, with knowledge of systems programming, memory management, concurrency, and performance optimization.
  • Proven ability to deliver complex software projects under tight deadlines in a matrixed organization.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with experience developing engineers.
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and process improvement.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance.
  • Preferred experience managing mission-critical teams in command and control, robotics, or defense applications.
  • Preferred familiarity with modern DevOps and CI/CD practices for embedded and distributed deployments.
  • Preferred background in distributed systems, connected ecosystems, IoT device management, telemetry, secure OTA updates, networking, security, hardware interactions, device drivers, or firmware development.
