Description

  • Specify, design, develop, and install instrumentation used to collect solid rocket motor burn performance data.
  • Design custom electronic solutions, including PCBs, firmware, and FPGA code, for manufacturing and testing rocket motors.
  • Configure data collection systems and develop software applications used to capture performance data.
  • Analyze existing equipment to identify inefficiencies and design improved instrumentation and measuring systems.
  • Collaborate with other engineers to develop accurate, efficient equipment that meets safety, usability, and client requirements.
  • Design, test, and rework PCBA and electrical system components as needed.
  • Create schematics and simulated models, and modify designs to meet specifications and budget requirements.
  • Oversee the implementation, installation, and testing of new measuring devices and control systems.
  • Serve as project engineer for design, prototype fabrication, and manufacturing development efforts.
  • Prepare and present technical documents, reports, and testing results, and provide training on devices as needed.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience designing, developing, and installing sensors used to collect system performance data.
  • Experience with NI LabVIEW, NI DAQmx, or other COTS data acquisition systems.
  • Strong understanding of signal conditioning for data acquisition, including analog circuit design.
  • Strong knowledge of analog-to-digital conversion and digital circuit design.
  • Experience with computer-controlled data acquisition and developing computer applications for data collection.
  • Ability to select sensors and determine sensor placement to capture solid rocket motor performance metrics.
  • Thorough understanding of applied math and physics.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and computer-aided design software.
  • Ability to write and understand Python.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
  • Advanced degree in engineering (preferred).
  • Experience with circuit simulation tools such as SPICE (preferred).
  • Experience using EDA tools such as Altium or OrCAD (preferred).
  • Familiarity with real-time computer architectures and operating systems (preferred).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Top Secret security clearance (preferred).
