Description

  • Own control systems end-to-end, including architecture, PLC/HMI development, commissioning, proof of rate, and sustainment handoff.
  • Deploy and maintain OT server infrastructure, including MQTT brokers and jump hosts, with backup and change-control practices.
  • Design and maintain the OT networking stack for production and diagnose protocol, timing, and VLAN issues using packet-level analysis.
  • Architect, develop, and debug PLC code on Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens platforms for high-volume manufacturing.
  • Apply OT security practices, including air-gapped design, segmentation, Purdue-model layering, server hardening, and secure remote access.
  • Partner with IT, Security, FactoryOS, and Manufacturing Engineering on cross-functional initiatives.
  • Represent the controls team in design reviews and cybersecurity buy-offs.
  • Configure switches, support RJ45 wiring, and automate system backups across IT and OT environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in controls and automation in a production environment.
  • Strong PLC programming experience on Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens platforms.
  • Proficiency in OPC UA and MQTT Engine/Distributor/Transmission.
  • Proficiency across the OT stack, including MQTT, OPC UA, TCP/IP, industrial Ethernet, VLANs, switching/routing, and packet-level analysis.
  • Working knowledge of OT cybersecurity, including air-gapped networks, network segmentation, server hardening, and secure remote access.
  • Experience integrating with MES and QMS.
  • Must be a U.S. Person due to access to U.S. export-controlled information or facilities.
  • Preferred: experience in regulated or defense manufacturing environments such as ITAR/EAR-controlled, CMMC, FDA, or aerospace quality systems.
  • Preferred: experience with servo drives, VFDs, PID tuning, and functional-safety implementations.
  • Preferred: experience deploying Ignition in redundant or high-availability gateway topologies.
  • Preferred: familiarity with control panel layout, electrical component selection, and cable routing.
