Description

  • Build and own the Android presentation layer in Kotlin and Compose for flight UI, telemetry, video, mission planning, and review.
  • Shape the interface layout, interaction, and information hierarchy without a dedicated designer.
  • Co-own the shared Kotlin Multiplatform core, including the domain model, protocol, persistence, and sync logic.
  • Render live telemetry and video streams smoothly on constrained controller hardware.
  • Design for field conditions such as degraded links, stale data, gloves, sunlight, vibration, and one-handed use.
  • Collaborate with engineers on DJI SDK integration and consume the flight state they expose.
  • Validate the product on real hardware and participate in field testing.
  • Make independent technical decisions as a senior individual contributor without people management.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience building and shipping production software.
  • 4+ years of Android development with apps shipped and maintained in production.
  • Expert-level Kotlin experience, including coroutines, structured concurrency, Flow, and generics.
  • Strong architecture instincts, including modularization and clear layer boundaries.
  • Comfort with testing and CI/CD as part of normal work.
  • Ability to work autonomously in a fully remote, distributed team and communicate clearly in writing.
  • Professional working proficiency in English.
  • Deep Jetpack Compose experience, including state hoisting, recomposition, custom layouts, Canvas drawing, animation, and gesture handling.
  • Production experience with Kotlin Multiplatform, including expect/actual, source set layout, and Gradle multiplatform configuration.
  • Experience building UI on top of a device or hardware SDK, such as Bluetooth, USB, cameras, IoT, medical, industrial, vehicle, or robotics systems.
  • DJI SDK experience, especially Mobile SDK v5, or Payload/Edge SDK, is a plus.
  • Compose Multiplatform, geospatial/map UI, video transport, server-side Kotlin, rugged Android hardware experience, or drone/pilot certification are preferred.
