Description

  • Command critical incidents from declaration through mitigation, maintaining responder focus and minimizing customer and partner impact.
  • Classify and reassess incident severity, making escalation and business-impact decisions.
  • Identify, page, and escalate to the appropriate technical teams and business leaders.
  • Run incident bridges, protect responders from interruptions, and coordinate stakeholder communications.
  • Provide the partner communications team with accurate impact, severity, and timing information.
  • Execute high-fidelity follow-the-sun handoffs across regions to maintain continuous command coverage.
  • Maintain a real-time incident timeline suitable for regulated-business review.
  • Ensure blameless retrospectives, accountable action items, tickets, priorities, and service-level completion.
  • Identify opportunities to automate incident coordination and improve decision trees and response workflows.

Requirements

  • 4+ years commanding or co-commanding high-severity incidents in production engineering, SRE, or technical operations.
  • Experience directing technical responders under pressure without personally implementing the fix.
  • Strong judgment in severity classification, escalation, mitigation, and executive engagement.
  • Ability to interpret dashboards and independently assess whether customer impact has stopped.
  • Clear communication skills with engineers, executives, partners, and communications teams.
  • Ability to hold teams accountable across reporting lines during active incidents.
  • Experience working in follow-the-sun operating models with cross-region handoffs.
  • Understanding of FinTech concepts and the trust requirements of API-driven financial platforms.
  • Experience using AI tools or agentic automation to reduce operational toil.
  • Availability for a regional coverage window within a global 24x7 Incident Commander roster.
  • Formal incident command, ITIL, major incident management, or crisis management training preferred.
  • Experience with incident management and on-call platforms, incident playbooks, game days, or tabletop exercises preferred.
  • Experience with problem management, reliability programs, securities trading, capital markets, or another regulated domain preferred.
