Description

  • Design and implement scalable backend services for ingesting, transforming, and persisting diverse health data sources.
  • Build APIs and data pipelines for real-time and batch processing with strong data integrity, security, and compliance controls.
  • Integrate backend systems with FHIR APIs, BLE-based devices, Apple HealthKit, Google Fit, and other external health platforms.
  • Ensure backend services meet high availability, reliability, and low-latency needs for real-time clinical decision support.
  • Collaborate with security and compliance teams to support HIPAA-compliant handling of PHI and PII.
  • Work cross-functionally with product, clinical, and AI teams to align backend capabilities with user-facing experiences and clinical workflows.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, observability tooling, and data quality monitoring.
  • Support and mentor teammates on secure coding practices and data access best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience delivering products end-to-end, from ideation and planning through implementation.
  • Full-stack experience building dashboards, admin tools, or data visualizations with React, Next.js, Tailwind, or similar tools.
  • Proven software architecture experience on large, high-scale applications.
  • Experience integrating third-party health platforms and APIs, including EHRs, remote monitoring tools, or insurance data exchanges.
  • Background working with data warehousing, analytics platforms, or data lakes for longitudinal health data.
  • Exposure to clinical workflows, remote patient monitoring, or population health management systems.
  • Familiarity with data governance, data provenance, and auditing frameworks for regulated environments.
  • Proficient with Git, GitHub, Jira, or similar project enablement tools.
  • Strong Python backend experience with FastAPI, Flask, or Django, plus understanding of distributed systems, microservices, and asynchronous workflows such as Celery.
  • Solid database experience with PostgreSQL or MySQL and familiarity with Kafka or similar event-streaming systems.
  • Competence in test architecture using PyTest, Hypothesis, and Locust.
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, containerized CI/CD pipelines, and cloud environments such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
  • Familiarity with OAuth2, TLS certificate management, and secure service communication.
  • Understanding of security and compliance principles such as HITRUST, HIPAA, FDA 510(k), encryption, and audit evidence generation.
  • Experience with HL7 or FHIR interfaces, including message parsing, composition, and secure healthcare data exchange.
  • Experience with Java or other JVM-based languages is preferred.
  • Experience with Rust is preferred.
