Description

  • Proactively identify and lead major infrastructure improvements across teams and product areas.
  • Work on systems-level problems where scalability, efficiency, reliability, and security are critical.
  • Build clean, reusable, and maintainable abstractions for Airtable engineers.
  • Own infrastructure components end to end, including reliability, performance, efficiency, and observability in production.
  • Improve core product infrastructure such as database replication, failover, performance, memory usage, and scaling.
  • Develop and manage Kubernetes-based compute infrastructure that supports Airtable services and AI workloads.
  • Build and operate data infrastructure for analytics, streaming, governance, and ML-ready datasets.
  • Create internal tooling, frameworks, and CI/CD systems that improve developer workflows and deployment speed.
  • Design and maintain scalable storage systems and developer-facing storage abstractions.
  • Contribute to traffic, routing, network security, and disaster recovery infrastructure.

Requirements

  • 2-8 years of industry experience; this is not a new grad position.
  • Experience in areas such as databases, distributed systems, service-oriented architectures, or data infrastructure.
  • Strong background in computer science with a degree in CS or a related field.
  • Currently based in or willing to relocate to the San Francisco Bay Area.
  • Open to coming into the office 2-3 times per week if based in the San Francisco Bay Area or New York City.
  • Willing to work remotely from the greater Seattle area, if applicable.
  • Experience shipping code in cloud network routing, network security, or traffic engineering is preferred for the Traffic team.
  • Experience with technologies such as Apache Spark, Kafka, Apache Flink, RDS MySQL, DynamoDB, Redis, TiDB, or Kubernetes is relevant for some teams.

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $187,000-$260,000 USD for work locations in the San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle, New York City, and Los Angeles.
  • Total compensation may include benefits, restricted stock units, and incentive compensation.
  • Hybrid working model with flexibility to work from the office or elsewhere.
  • Opportunity to work in offices in San Francisco and New York City on a 2-3 day-per-week collaboration schedule.
