Description

  • Own the end-to-end system design vision for the Compliance organization and set architectural direction across multiple engineering teams.
  • Lead foundational architectural changes, including the shift from an account-centric model to a customer-centric model.
  • Drive technical strategy for expanding KYC capabilities for small and medium businesses, business onboarding, third-party APIs, and third-party payees.
  • Architect systems that can adapt to changing digital identity standards, government-issued credentials, and privacy regulations without major re-platforming.
  • Build technical foundations that can absorb new regulatory mandates on aggressive timelines without destabilizing existing systems.
  • Partner with engineering leaders across organizations to align on shared capabilities, system cohesion, and reduced technical duplication.
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, Policy, Legal, Operations, and other stakeholders to define and ship features.
  • Mentor engineers and help develop future technical leaders within the Compliance organization.
  • Identify systemic improvements that reduce toil, improve technical quality, and increase operational excellence.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of technical experience, including 10+ years of relevant industry experience in a fast-paced tech environment.
  • Prior knowledge of regulatory compliance standards, including AML, KYC, and sanctions screening.
  • Experience designing and implementing compliance controls at scale.
  • Proven track record of setting technical direction and architectural strategy for a large engineering organization.
  • Experience designing systems across multiple teams and domains with an emphasis on cohesion, reusability, and long-term maintainability.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to influence senior technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and deep experience operating and leading on-call for production systems at scale.
  • Hands-on experience leading large project teams, making high-stakes design tradeoffs, and translating regulatory requirements into scalable architectures.
  • BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Proficiency in one or more back-end server languages such as Java, Ruby, Go, or C++.
  • Deep understanding of architectural patterns for high-scale web and data applications.
  • Experience working in remote or globally distributed teams is implied by the role's collaboration model.
  • A future-oriented, platform-first mindset with end-to-end ownership across team boundaries.

  • Base salary range of $244,000 to $305,000 USD.
  • Eligible for bonus.
