Description

  • Frame and prototype ML and agentic solutions for ambiguous trust and safety problems.
  • Design, build, and productionize end-to-end machine learning pipelines for batch and real-time use cases.
  • Develop abuse behavior detection models that generalize across multiple defenses.
  • Design and launch AI agents that automate trust decisions, including orchestration, tool interfaces, and guardrails.
  • Build benchmarks, evaluation harnesses, and instrumentation to measure model and agent decision quality.
  • Develop specialized models for trust and safety use cases and use LLMs and AI agents to accelerate model development.
  • Write, review, and ship clean, testable code for models, pipelines, and scalable features.
  • Work with large-scale structured and unstructured data to improve ML models for product, business, and operational use cases.
  • Partner with front line defense teams to run experiments, holdouts, and metric analysis to validate impact.
  • Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and cross-team collaboration.

Requirements

  • 5-10 years of industry experience in applied machine learning and productionizing models at scale.
  • 1-2+ years of hands-on experience with LLMs and GenAI technologies, including agentic frameworks, orchestration, and evaluation.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, with familiarity with Scala, Java, or equivalent.
  • Solid understanding of ML best practices such as training/serving skew minimization, A/B testing, feature engineering, and model selection.
  • Experience with ML frameworks and tooling such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
  • Experience building end-to-end ML pipelines, including batch and real-time systems.
  • Experience designing evaluation methodology for ML or LLM systems, including benchmarks, ground truth, offline/online metrics, and calibration.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and a bias toward action, including scoping and prototyping loosely defined problems.
  • Exposure to architectural patterns for large, high-scale software applications.
  • Experience with test-driven development, incremental delivery, and deployment practices.
  • Experience with multimodal models such as vision, document, or speech is a plus.
  • Exposure to trust and risk domains such as fraud detection, anomaly detection, identity, or account integrity is a plus.
  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in CS, ML, or a related field.
  • Must live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity for this US-remote-eligible role.

Benefits

  • Base pay range of $200,000 to $235,000 USD.
  • Eligibility for bonus compensation.
  • Eligibility for equity.

  • US-remote-eligible role with occasional office or offsite attendance as needed.
