Description

  • Identify and recruit commercial and industrial facilities suitable for participation in the Virtual Power Plant program.
  • Build and maintain a pipeline of target sites such as hotels, cold storage facilities, manufacturing plants, office buildings, and retail chains.
  • Conduct outreach through calls, meetings, conferences, and industry partnerships to source new sites.
  • Present the value proposition of Virtual Power Plant participation, including revenue opportunities from demand response and capacity markets.
  • Work with facility managers and energy managers to evaluate site suitability and enrollment potential.
  • Negotiate participation agreements with commercial sites and manage the contracting process.
  • Coordinate with internal technical teams to onboard sites and integrate their assets into the Virtual Power Plant platform.
  • Develop strategic partnerships with energy service companies, building automation providers, and property management firms.
  • Stay informed on regional demand response programs, capacity markets, and utility incentives.
  • Maintain CRM records, track site evaluations and signed agreements, and report key pipeline metrics such as MW enrolled, sites recruited, and contract conversion rates.

Requirements

  • 3–8 years of experience with demand response, virtual power plants, or distributed energy resource aggregation.
  • Experience selling to or partnering with commercial or industrial customers.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage long sales cycles and multiple stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with building systems such as HVAC, refrigeration, or industrial loads.
  • Understanding of wholesale power markets or utility programs.
  • Existing relationships with property managers, facility operators, or energy consultants.
  • Experience in business development and partnership building.
  • Experience with commercial contract negotiation.
  • Experience managing pipelines and CRM records.
  • Technical knowledge of building energy systems is preferred.
