Description

  • Design, build, and operate high-performance backend services across the App Foundations platform.
  • Lead end-to-end delivery of platform features and stability work, from technical design through launch and post-launch ownership.
  • Improve reliability, observability, on-call effectiveness, and SLO performance for Tier-0 systems.
  • Contribute to the internal LLM inference platform, including routing, fallback, provider integrations, batch inference, and cost attribution.
  • Build AI-native internal tools and automations that improve team workflows and operational efficiency.
  • Mentor engineers, review technical designs and pull requests, and serve as a subject matter expert for owned systems.
  • Partner with product, TPM, and peer platform teams to deliver cross-team initiatives.
  • Participate in hiring activities, including interview question design and candidate evaluation.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of backend software engineering experience building and operating production services at scale.
  • 4+ years of experience with relevant backend technologies, including Python/Django and/or Go, MySQL/PostgreSQL, Kafka, Redis, and ElasticSearch.
  • 3+ years supporting enterprise customers in production, including ownership of SLOs, on-call, and incident response.
  • 2+ years of system design experience with the ability to design, document, and deliver cross-team architectures.
  • Proven experience leading multi-quarter projects end-to-end, including technical design, implementation, launch, and post-launch operations.
  • Demonstrated daily use of AI coding tools in current workflow, with examples of using AI to improve team or workflow outcomes beyond code generation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate autonomously and asynchronously with remote stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.
  • Hands-on experience building with LLMs in production, including provider APIs, model routing and fallback, evals, batch inference, or cost/quota tooling (preferred).
  • Experience with notification systems, licensing/entitlement platforms, or other high-leverage internal platforms (preferred).
  • Experience building AI agents or automations that replaced meaningful manual work (preferred).
  • Experience mentoring engineers and serving as a tech lead on a small squad (preferred).
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (preferred).
