Description

  • Build trust with clients and understand their technical and business objectives.
  • Lead platform strategy, architecture, and delivery from long-term vision through implementation.
  • Advise clients on scalability, security, reliability, performance, maintainability, and observability.
  • Design technical roadmaps and document architectural decisions and outcomes.
  • Lead systems spanning the ML lifecycle, including data ingestion, model deployment, integration, and monitoring.
  • Coach client engineering teams and facilitate retrospectives, strategy sessions, and technical deep-dives.
  • Influence CTOs and executives while aligning technical decisions with product and user needs.
  • Identify and resolve blockers, drive innovation, and improve team delivery practices.
  • Partner with account teams on opportunity identification, relationship management, and presales scope shaping.
  • Mentor engineers, lead workshops, support hiring, and contribute to 8th Light’s technical community.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of repeated success across software projects, consulting engagements, or comparable technical leadership roles.
  • Deep experience building and shipping production-grade platforms, infrastructure, tools, and workflows.
  • Experience taking AI or agentic systems from prototype to production, including authentication and observability.
  • Strong experience across multiple languages, frameworks, stacks, ecosystems, and industries.
  • Production software development experience with technologies such as Java, C#/.NET, Python, TypeScript, JavaScript, React, Go, Ruby, Scala, R, and SQL.
  • Experience building or integrating AI/ML capabilities such as recommendation engines, NLP, computer vision, predictive analytics, RAG pipelines, or agents.
  • Experience leading modernization, replatforming, and architecture initiatives involving scalability, security, reliability, performance, and observability.
  • Strong stakeholder facilitation, consulting, communication, mentorship, and technical leadership abilities.
  • Preferred experience with platform engineering, Databricks, production agentic systems, RAG, vector search, LangChain, LlamaIndex, CrewAI, AutoGen, n8n, DevSecOps, MLOps, or Infrastructure as Code.
  • Ability to work remotely across the United States, Canada, or United Kingdom; most engagements require little or no travel.
