Description

  • Lead high-stakes consulting engagements, architecture discussions, and software design decisions.
  • Build and maintain high-quality software collaboratively across varied languages, frameworks, and client environments.
  • Guide systems through the full ML lifecycle, including data ingestion, preprocessing, deployment, integration, and performance monitoring.
  • Manage project roadmaps, prioritized backlogs, risks, blockers, and client status communications.
  • Balance technology choices, product needs, user needs, deadlines, scalability, security, reliability, and performance.
  • Generate solutions with clients and team members, document outcomes, and drive action items forward.
  • Facilitate retrospectives and feedback conversations with teams and clients.
  • Maintain relationships with client technical leaders and build trust through immediate project contributions.
  • Mentor colleagues, lead workshops, contribute to hiring, and support 8th Light’s technical community and culture.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of repeated success across software development projects.
  • Experience leading complex consulting engagements from discovery through production.
  • Production software development experience with languages or frameworks such as Java, C#/.NET, Python, TypeScript, JavaScript, React, Go, Ruby, Scala, R, and SQL.
  • Experience building or integrating AI/ML-powered features, such as recommendation engines, NLP, computer vision, or predictive analytics.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools for scaffolding, refactoring, debugging, test generation, and documentation.
  • Experience with automated testing, debugging, refactoring, Git, macOS/Linux, and CI/CD.
  • Ability to address architecture concerns involving scalability, security, reliability, and performance.
  • Strong stakeholder communication, collaborative leadership, mentoring, feedback, and decision-making skills.
  • Preferred experience with platform engineering, data engineering or Databricks, production agentic systems, RAG, vector search, LangChain, LlamaIndex, CrewAI, AutoGen, n8n, DevSecOps, DevOps, MLOps, or Infrastructure as Code.
