Description

  • Facilitate communication with client stakeholders on project status and technical recommendations.
  • Lead the design and development of backend services and APIs using Python and the Pyramid framework on AWS.
  • Architect and manage PostgreSQL schemas, queries, and performance optimizations for clinical-grade data.
  • Build and maintain AWS infrastructure including Kubernetes (EKS), Lambda, API Gateway, and cloud-to-cloud integration patterns.
  • Define backend coding standards, API design patterns, security best practices, and testing strategies.
  • Mentor and guide backend engineers to drive engineering excellence across the team.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies including stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and estimation.
  • Independently drive project delivery from conceptualization through deployment within the defined architecture.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of backend engineering experience, including 2+ years in a lead or tech lead role.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing scalable backend services and APIs using Python.
  • Strong experience architecting PostgreSQL databases, including schema design, query optimization, performance tuning, stored procedures, and data integrity.
  • Experience with AWS services including Kubernetes (EKS), Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, S3, and IAM.
  • Experience with cloud-to-cloud integrations.
  • Experience mentoring engineers, conducting code reviews, and enforcing engineering standards.
  • Strong understanding of SOLID principles, object-oriented programming, and clean architecture patterns.
  • Familiarity with OWASP security practices and delivering production systems with high reliability, observability, and security.
  • Experience with clinical or healthcare data systems such as HL7, FHIR, GxP, or 21 CFR Part 11 (preferred).
  • Knowledge of microservices and serverless architectural patterns, Docker, container orchestration, modern CI/CD tooling, TypeScript, Snowflake, SQLAlchemy, and VS Code (preferred).
  • Proficiency with unit testing, integration testing, and TDD practices (preferred).
  • English proficiency.
