Description

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of World Builders and Level Artists.
  • Partner with Art Leads, the Art Director, and Associate Art Director to maintain artistic consistency across the project.
  • Collaborate with Design and Narrative Leads to create immersive and believable environments.
  • Design and improve modular architecture systems for levels.
  • Provide objective, empathetic feedback and help establish realistic development schedules.
  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the World Art Team.
  • Support artists’ career growth, goal-setting, and performance development.
  • Create and manage asset lists with internal and external partner teams.
  • Coordinate workflow and interdisciplinary communication to support efficient game world development.
  • Stay aligned with cross-functional teams across art, design, engineering, animation, and audio.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in internal game development with an emphasis on environmental art or level architecture.
  • At least 2 shipped titles, with UE5/UE4 preferred; one shipped title in a leadership capacity; AAA titles preferred.
  • Prior experience leading artists and managing career growth, goals, and job performance.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate clearly across multiple disciplines and locations.
  • Knowledge of current industry-standard tools such as 3D Studio Max, Maya, ZBrush, Substance, and Photoshop.
  • Recent experience using industry-standard game editors, with UE5 preferred.
  • Experience with industry-standard asset management tools.
  • Knowledge of classic drawing and/or painting techniques, with the ability to sketch ideas on paper.
  • Strong sense of spatial composition, proportions, and basic architecture.
  • Comfort working in an iterative design environment.

  • Salary range in California: $125,400 to $185,580 per year at start of employment.
