Description

  • Design, build, and implement scalable, user-friendly applications and libraries using Node, React, and TypeScript.
  • Collaborate with Product Management to decompose roadmap items into epics and actionable, appropriately sized backlog tickets.
  • Provide technical leadership by analyzing requirements, identifying risks, recommending solutions, and discussing architecture tradeoffs.
  • Implement systems and infrastructure from Staff Developer POCs in line with the team’s vision and security-first mindset.
  • Perform code reviews, ensure pull requests meet acceptance criteria, and use quality metrics to identify testing gaps.
  • Define and prioritize technical debt and bugs, incorporating incident management outcomes into remediation plans.
  • Manage and optimize integration of third-party systems to ensure reliability, performance, and security.
  • Coach and mentor engineers to expand technical skills, foster iterative deployability, and improve team delivery metrics.
  • Write unit and higher-level tests, apply systematic debugging techniques, and consistently produce production-ready, well-documented code.
  • Ensure modules meet technical standards for accessibility, performance, security, maintainability, operability, and observability while following Agile practices and contributing to continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • University degree or college diploma in a technical program or equivalent work experience.
  • 7+ years building rich, complex, scalable APIs, including integration with third-party APIs.
  • 5+ years building front-end web applications using modern JavaScript frameworks.
  • 2+ years of experience designing scalable and distributed systems.
  • Extensive full-stack experience with React, Redux, Node, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, and JavaScript.
  • Experience mentoring other developers and providing technical leadership.
  • Extensive experience with Scrum and Agile methodologies and familiarity with DORA metrics for DevOps performance.
  • Experience architecting and augmenting large software systems and working with microservices and micro front-ends.
  • Experience with JavaScript tooling such as Webpack, Babel, and Storybook, and unit testing frameworks like Jest or Mocha.
  • Nice to have: experience with test automation (Cypress, Nightwatch, Selenium, BrowserStack), Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Pulumi, AWS), and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
