Description

  • Collaborate with engineering leadership on cross-team topics such as goal setting and best practices.
  • Coach and mentor team members to build a self-organizing, cross-functional team.
  • Identify growth opportunities for direct reports and track progress toward their objectives.
  • Develop and monitor team goals and performance metrics.
  • Work with the Product Manager to break business requirements into actionable, estimable tasks.
  • Define and maintain the team charter with the team.
  • Promote knowledge sharing and maintain an open, safe work environment.
  • Discuss technical strategy and tradeoffs for potential software solutions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and developers to design and build scalable, user-friendly systems.
  • Understand and support the processes needed to implement, test, deploy, monitor, and release features and fixes.
  • Evaluate, define, and implement monitoring strategies and contingency plans for third-party-dependent platform areas.
  • Perform administrative leadership duties such as reviews, reports, expenditure approvals, and recommendations.

Requirements

  • University degree or college diploma in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical/vocational/academic program, or equivalent work experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in software engineering or development.
  • 2+ years of experience managing developers on a product team.
  • Experience with goal-setting frameworks such as OKRs or SMART goals.
  • Experience providing and receiving constructive feedback, conducting performance management, coaching, mentoring, and delegating work.
  • Ability to make decisions and drive results in ambiguous situations.
  • Experience with the JavaScript ecosystem, including PostgreSQL, NodeJS, and TypeScript.
  • Experience with AWS, microservices, micro-frontends, queues, caches, REST APIs, gRPC, and WebSockets.
  • A passion for clean, reusable, and well-structured code.
  • Conceptual understanding of Infrastructure as Code, containerization (Kubernetes), monitoring, and alerting (preferred).
  • Experience with NestJS, React, Jest, NX, and WebPack is an asset.
  • Experience with dynamic rendering engines and data-backed A/B tests is an asset.
