Description

  • Own the release calendar, including schedules, dependencies, freeze windows, environments, and competing workstreams.
  • Drive release readiness by defining entry and exit criteria, facilitating go/no-go decisions, and securing required approvals.
  • Create and lead detailed cutover plans, including ownership, timing, dependencies, checkpoints, and rehearsals for high-risk releases.
  • Ensure documented and tested rollback plans with defined triggers and decision ownership.
  • Manage release communications for technical teams, leadership, and client stakeholders before, during, and after deployment.
  • Identify release risks and blockers across testing, environments, dependencies, and timing, and coordinate mitigation plans.
  • Track release performance, lead retrospectives, and improve release processes and reliability.
  • Partner with DevOps on deployment automation, environments, branching, and versioning without directly building pipelines.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in release management, delivery management, technical program management, or a similar software delivery role.
  • Hands-on experience managing production releases end to end, including planning, readiness, go/no-go, cutover, and rollback.
  • Strong understanding of the SDLC, CI/CD concepts, deployment environments, and branching/versioning strategies.
  • Experience coordinating engineering, QA, DevOps, project teams, and external or client stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create runbooks, release updates, and executive summaries.
  • Structured, calm decision-making approach during high-pressure releases or production incidents.
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, release workflows, and delivery dashboards.
  • Active use of ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, or similar AI tools, with sound judgment when validating generated output.
  • Experience in eCommerce, CPQ, Salesforce, or ServiceNow environments preferred.
  • Consulting or client-facing delivery experience and ITIL, SAFe Release Train Engineer, PMP, or similar certification preferred.
