Description

  • Serve as the accountable product leader for the transaction rail, driving alignment, prioritization, and execution across the payment lifecycle.
  • Define and optimize end-to-end workflows across connectivity, payment orchestration, transaction core, money operations, and risk, trust, and vault domains.
  • Shape product strategy and technical direction for platform capabilities that reduce onboarding effort and improve payment execution.
  • Lead cross-functional domain pods and partner with Staff Engineers and the CTO Office to remove silos.
  • Champion a You Build It, You Run It culture and ensure teams own components from code to production.
  • Maintain a strong stability and quality bar by enforcing highly automated quality assurance across the rail.
  • Prioritize ambiguous cross-domain work using the RICE framework and turn it into a structured roadmap.
  • Ensure the platform is designed for multi-tenancy, elastic scaling, and automated observability.
  • Own reliability and operational excellence for bank-grade payment infrastructure in production.

Requirements

  • Senior-level experience, with the role based remotely in Europe and offered as full time.
  • Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures, distributed systems, APIs, event-driven platforms, and modern software engineering practices.
  • Experience with cloud-native or serverless systems, Kotlin or Go, and gRPC or REST.
  • Proven experience building foundational platform capabilities or complex distributed systems across multiple interdependent domains.
  • Experience in payments routing, transaction processing, settlement, or fraud and risk infrastructure is highly relevant.
  • Track record of improving delivery velocity, unblocking engineering teams, managing cross-domain dependencies, and optimizing DORA metrics.
  • Ability to evaluate technical trade-offs such as tech debt versus feature velocity and approval rate versus cost.
  • Ability to communicate technical decisions and growth requirements to executive stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of payment provider integrations, smart routing and retry logic, transaction state machines, settlement and reconciliation, and PCI-scoped fraud and vaulting systems is preferred.
  • Preference for clean, modular architecture over monolithic shortcuts.
