Description

  • Own and facilitate the Architectural Advice Forum (AAF) and drive decentralized architectural decision-making through ADRs.
  • Build production-grade proofs of concept to validate new architectural patterns and de-risk adoption.
  • Partner with the CTO on AI strategy, tool evaluation, prototyping, and responsible adoption across engineering workflows and products.
  • Standardize backend, web, and mobile engineering practices across architecture, observability, security, testing, and delivery.
  • Define and uphold the engineering quality bar for code review, testing, observability, security, performance, and production readiness.
  • Embed security-first architecture by setting patterns for threat modeling, secure-by-default design, and defense in depth.
  • Champion Domain-Driven Design and Event-Driven Architecture as core approaches to system design.
  • Work with the SRE team on reliability, capacity, incident response, observability, and internal developer platform evolution.
  • Coach and mentor engineers across stream-aligned, platform, and enabling teams.
  • Surface systemic technical risks, technical debt, and cross-team dependencies before they impact production.
  • Maintain engineering principles and the Tech Radar, and contribute to architecture-related regulatory and risk discussions.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years in an Architect, Staff, or equivalent senior IC role.
  • Strong hands-on engineering background with regular experience reading, writing, and reviewing production code.
  • Deep experience designing, building, and operating distributed, event-driven systems in production, ideally at scale and under regulatory scrutiny.
  • Hands-on experience with Domain-Driven Design, including strategic and tactical patterns.
  • Practical familiarity with decentralized architectural governance, RFCs, and ADRs.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead by influence rather than authority.
  • Experience working in regulated fintech, payments, or banking environments.
  • Deep experience designing security-first architectures, including threat modeling, identity, key, and secret management.
  • Strong perspective on modern AI/ML, LLMs, agents, and applied AI in production.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for architecture reviews, ADRs, and stakeholder communication.
  • Solid understanding of cloud-native architecture, microservices, container-based 12-factor apps, fault tolerance, security, and resilience.
  • Strong CI/CD, automated testing, and SDLC practices.
  • Hands-on experience in crypto, Web3, custody, or blockchain-based systems (nice to have).
  • Familiarity with Team Topologies and stream-aligned, platform, and enabling teams (nice to have).
  • Multi-platform standardization experience across backend, web, and mobile (nice to have).
  • Background contributing to SRE or platform engineering work, including SLOs, error budgets, and developer experience (nice to have).
  • Open-source contributions or external thought leadership such as talks or articles (nice to have).
  • Familiarity with Python, which is used in part of the stack (nice to have).
  • Experience with AWS as the cloud platform and GCP for data warehousing.
  • Experience with containerized microservices and a multi-language stack.
  • Based in or near a CET-compatible timezone.
