Description

  • Provide practical legal advice to internal stakeholders on hiring, performance management, terminations, benefits, and other employment-related issues.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate employment agreements, severance agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and related employment documents.
  • Develop, draft, and implement company policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local labor laws and regulations.
  • Advise on employee disciplinary actions, investigations, and grievances while ensuring fair and consistent treatment.
  • Collaborate with HR on employee relations issues, risk mitigation, and cross-functional projects.
  • Work with internal legal counsel, finance, and business leaders on incentive plans, IP and confidential information protection, restructuring, and M&A transactions.
  • Oversee proceedings and litigation, including mediations, administrative charges, demand letters, and employment-related government audits.
  • Advise on labor and employment matters in new markets, especially in EMEA, including coordination with external counsel.
  • Manage relationships with external counsel across EMEA and other territories as needed.
  • Stay current on changes in labor and employment laws and regulations.

Requirements

  • Licensed attorney in Germany.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as in-house legal counsel in a high-tech or technology company with a focus on labor and employment law.
  • Strong knowledge of labor and employment law, plus related areas such as contract, commercial, and data protection/privacy law.
  • Experience handling employment-related litigation, including discrimination claims and unfair or unlawful dismissal cases.
  • Familiarity with mergers and acquisitions transactions and their employment law implications.
  • Experience advising on employment matters in international markets, particularly in the EMEA region.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with sound judgment in fast-paced, high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to thrive in a hyper-growth environment with urgency and flexibility as business needs change.
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership, and maintain full accountability with minimal supervision.
  • Legal right to work in the country where the position is based without visa sponsorship.
