Description

  • Advise internal stakeholders on privacy issues related to Lyra’s products, services, and new technologies, including AI.
  • Conduct AI use case reviews, including generative AI and agentic AI, and assess AI-powered products, services, and tools.
  • Drive the AI use case review process to meet SLAs and keep the business moving efficiently.
  • Draft, maintain, and update AI governance materials such as the Responsible AI Policy, standards, procedures, and guidance.
  • Coordinate compliance with applicable state and federal privacy laws, including CCPA and HIPAA.
  • Monitor, analyze, and advise on evolving US privacy and AI laws and regulations at the state and federal levels.
  • Partner with international privacy counsel on EU AI Act and other global AI regulatory compliance efforts.
  • Collaborate with commercial counsel to review privacy terms in commercial agreements and Business Associate Agreements (BAAs).
  • Review BAAs and document data use permissions for new and existing customers.
  • Work cross-functionally with product and business teams to assess privacy and AI implications of product lines and approve PRDs.
  • Investigate, manage, document, and report privacy incidents and breaches in accordance with legal and contractual requirements.
  • Participate in cross-functional AI governance efforts and other assigned legal projects.

Requirements

  • Law degree from a top-tier law school and active membership in a state bar in good standing.
  • 3 to 5 years of legal experience, either in-house or at a law firm.
  • Experience analyzing and advising on healthcare privacy laws at the state and federal level.
  • Experience implementing CCPA or GDPR programs is a plus.
  • Experience advising on AI regulation and governance is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving, judgment, written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience leading projects by gathering, distilling, and summarizing stakeholder input and driving work forward.
  • Experience handling product legal matters and collaborating with stakeholders with varied legal and technical backgrounds.
  • Ability to balance technical AI legal advice with operational process management.
  • Experience working in-house at a technology company and/or healthcare organization is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a high-performance environment.
  • Strong background in data privacy with significant hands-on AI experience is preferred.
  • AI-related professional certification, such as IAPP AIGP, or equivalent study is preferred.
  • Privacy-related professional certification, such as IAPP CIPP/US, is preferred.
  • Experience with new US state AI regulations, such as California, Colorado, Texas, Illinois, New York, or Utah, is preferred.
  • Ability to work autonomously while knowing when to escalate issues appropriately.
  • Positive attitude and sense of humor are preferred.
